CAGR assumes smooth compounding over the period and ignores intermediate cash flows, fees, and taxes.

Worked example

  • $10,000 to $15,000 over 5 yearsTotal 50%, CAGR ≈ 8.45% — 1.5^(1/5) − 1 ≈ 0.0845.
